After years of looking and collecting little stones and pebbles wherever I go, I stopped for a moment to reflect on this habit.
As a gemologist and gem-cutter, I have an obvious attraction to gemstones. As an artist I always find myself looking at textures and colours wherever I am. As I combine the two together I find myself fascinated by the fact that a geologist will be able to tell you the history of a particular stone: what it is made of, how it was formed, and how it got to the place you found it. On the other hand, a more romantic person will tell you the story of a beautiful sunset and how the stone was chosen and carefully kept as a precious reminder of that moment.
Whether you are more interested in the scientific part, or the artistic one or even a bit of both like me my question to you is what does this little stone tell you?
